I have an embarrassing confession to make. Or, rather, a few. First, I always wanted to publish a book. I "wrote" one when I was 10; unfortunately, it got lost on a very old green floppy disk before it could ever reach mass publication. Second, I used to voluntarily sleep on the streets of 30 Rock in the hopes that Jimmy Fallon would one day ask me to marry him.

Even the roar of the snowmobile can’t deafen the howl of the freezing wind. The snow stings the few patches of uncovered skin as you look out onto a landscape of pure white. Like a scene out of a James Bond flick, we’re caravanning through an Icelandic glacier, worlds away from any thought of balance sheet equations or decision trees.

Although the election is now old news, many are still left wondering how, after a fiercely competitive, seemingly endless campaign season, Obama managed to win by such a landslide of electoral votes. This question was addressed by Political Science professor at the University of California San Diego, Gary C.

As we approach the end of this mercilessly busy (for me) semester, I have realized my own mortality as a college student. I don't mean to worry any seniors who are dreading May 17, but I figured it was time to make a bucket list (things to do before I graduate).

It's mid-November, and by now it's safe to assume that you have gotten to know your roommates or suitemates pretty well. Some students, however, are just becoming acquainted with several unexpected new roommates … mice.
"It was pretty recently, not at the beginning of the year … maybe three weeks ago?" Leslie Lagomasino, A&S '09, says, turning to her roommate, Cristina Hancock, also A&S '09, for confirmation on when they saw the first mice appear in their Edmond's room.

There's no place like home for the holidays, but for some out-of-state students affected by the troubled economy, there may have to be.
Students who live a flight away from Boston may be spending the upcoming holiday season nearby due to rising airfare prices.

The queen leaf-cutter ant Atta Texana is a very special find. She sees daylight only once a year, counts herself among the largest ants in the animal kingdom and, when lightly toasted, has a sweet and nutty flavor with a crisp, bacon-like texture. David Gracer orders them by the pound and eats them by the dozen.

"Why do some people hate Celine Dion and others love her?" Believe it or not, this deceptively simple question is the basis of an entire book, one that so successfully tapped into contemporary culture that Smith invited its author to host a roundtable event this week.

With spring registration coming up, I thought I would pass on some advice I have acquired during my time at Smith. Confused about all those different class numbers, sections and department abbreviations? Don't be. Screw distribution requirements. When you get down to it, any college really only offers five different types of classes.

A new sculpture cemented outside Keene State College's Redfern Arts Center on Oct. 30 was meant to be a welcoming symbol to those walking towards the building, but some students would sooner run away from it than walk past it.
"It scared the daylights out of me the first time I saw it," senior Joe Sharkey said.

It's a sunny, Saturday afternoon in Holyoke, Mass., and in the middle of Heritage State Park, a merry-go-round spins, its lights twinkling despite the daylight. Parents sit donning birthday caps, giving never-ending dispensers of crinkled dollar bills to children entranced by the bright lights and painted horses that swirl underneath the cover of the shaded pavilion.
